Mission

On April 2012, as Master Candidate at Tsinghua University in Industrial Engineering, I started collecting papers and ideas for my thesis, to be completed in June 2013.
My thesis is about human robot cooperation on assembly lines, in order to reduce "muda" and allow finally the 3 Asimov Robotic Laws to be applied.
The topic appears to be wide and I am working to narrow it down, while still I have to cover different topics regarding different subjects... Well in the end it's Cybernetics applied to Industrial environments.

It's in my belief that up to today robots have been seen as a machine, a tool for mass production... We rely on their good repeatability and accuracy for doing tasks which may be hazard and may be highly repetitive. Is this trend correct? In my belief and as I am finding out day by day not only in my belief, this isn't correct at all.
We have technology and the knowledge to improve our robots and make them a tool of Lean Production and there is where my mission stands: create a module applicable in different environments, which can be a perfect example of Lean Application of Robots.

Lean is a work we often hear and we all need it... This thesis is also an example of Lean Production and I want it to be Lean... So, after reading different books about Lean, which I suggest you if you aren't used to Lean Concept, I started working on this new topic!

For all of you interested, you will find in this blog my weekly work and you can feel free to interact with me!

Enjoy!
